Charleston Jazz Orchestra kicks off third season with 'Jazz on the Screen'

The Charleston Jazz Orchestra opens its 2011 season with 'Jazz on the Screen' on Saturday, January 29th at 7 p.m.

Conductor Charlton Singleton returns to the stage with Charleston’s finest musicians to present a program featuring songs made famous from film and television. CJO arranger David Heywood will provide an orchestration of I Dream of Jeannie that will peel the paint off the room. Other songs from television shows include those from Taxi, I Love Lucy, Star Trek, Batman and Bob Dorough’s “Conjunction Junction” from Schoolhouse Rock.  Others from the movies will be Shaft, Soul Bossa Nova, Rocky and Naked Gun

Singleton has constructed the performance in a way that will have the rhythm section rocking, saxophones singing, and brasses blaring. The show will be performed as two sets with an intermission.

Adult admission is $30 advance, $40 day of show. Senior tickets are $25 advance, $35 day of show. Student tickets are $20 advance, $30 day of show. Tickets are available online or by telephone at (843) 641.0011.
