Here's your chance to get creative, promote recycling, and earn some green. (See what I did there? Hah.)
Charleston County is holding an art contest to highlight America Recycles Day on November 15.

As you might expect, America Recycles Day is designed to promote the practice of recycling.

For the Charleston County contest there are two categories: one for students in grades 7 to 12, and one for those 18 and older. The winning student gets a $300 savings bond, and the adult gets $300 in art supply and hardware certificates.

Among other requirements, the work must be composed of at least 70 percent recycled materials (read: things that have been discarded).

You must submit your work by 4 p.m. on November 10. Get details on how to submit by calling Jenny Bloom at Charleston County Recycling, (843) 720-7111 ext. 28.

An award reception will be held for all entrants on America Recycles Day (November 15) at 4:30 p.m. at the Charleston County Main Library at 75 Calhoun Street, downtown.
