To lighten the economic mood and seize a chance to get art to the public, WALK Gallery is helping to fill many empty King Street-area storefronts with artwork by local artists.

Charlie Magazine has a nice overview of the forthcoming exhibit and who was involved in making WALK (Window Art Local Knowledge) happen. A taste:

On the suggestion of Plum Elements owner Andrea Schenck, Rena Lasch has spearheaded a movement to put those empty windows to good use, highlight local artists and bring some much-needed beauty back to King Street.

The exhibition begins at the start of this year’s Spoleto Festival, Thursday, May 21, and runs through June 28.
