Blues, booze and football: It's the weekend round-up

Don't let this rainy weather get you down, Charleston's offering up plenty of exciting events that'll get your perked up and out of the house.

Some big time blues artists are in town for the Lowcountry Blues Bash that features 17 days, 25 venues, 50 acts, 93 shows. Here's what all you need to know to navigate the Blues Bash.

In other musical news, Robert Plant and Band of Joy are playing the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Friday night. On Saturday, Duke University’s premier all male a cappella group, the Pitchforks, will be crooning at the Charleston Jewish Community Center. Last but not least, the North Charleston Coliseum is offering special discounted online ticket prices for the upcoming Kid Rock concert.

There are three art openings headed your way this weekend. A new City Gallery exhibit Polaridad Complementaria: Recent Works from Cuba, highlights Cuba's influential artists. Dorothy Netherland's first solo show, Built From Scraps is opening at SCOOP studios Contemporary Art Gallery and Brian Bustos' Good Morning Spider opens at Eye Level Art.

If you're looking for some pre-Super Bowl sporting entertainment, the College of Charleston men's basketball team is hosting the Furman Paladins on Saturday afternoon.

If you skipped out on last week's massive Lowcountry Oyster Festival, no worries. On Saturday night, the Charitable Society of Charleston is having their huge all you can eat and drink oyster fest under the Visitor's Center Bus Shed.

Oh yeah, don't forget: Mount Pleasant's Westbrook Brewing opened their tasting room doors to the public and you can swing by Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
