Hundreds of locals and tourists were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony and opening day for the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel.
The first 100 people in line were given a free ride, while all others in attendance paid the set fee of $12 per adult, $8 for children 3-11 years and children 2 and under are free.
Each of the 42 climate controlled fully enclosed gondolas hold six people. They will take you 200+ feet above the city and give you a view unlike any other.
The SkyWheel attraction will be open throughout the year and will operate from 9 AM to midnight, seven days a week. The wheel is glittered with one million LED lights and each night here will be an impressive light show.
Also of note is the Jimmy Buffett Landshark Bar & Grill at the base of the wheel. The restaurant is ocean front and has seating inside as well as outside. Also there is a gift shop where you can purchase SkyWheel and Landshark items.
