Charleston air show expo canceled due to sequestration

Earlier I wrote that sequestration's budget cuts could lead to meaningful deep changes, today they've lead to immediate public chages: the air show has been canceled.

"The decision to cancel our Air Expo was made shortly after we were informed the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds had cancelled their performance schedule as a consequence of sequestration," said Col. Richard McComb, Joint Base Charleston commander. "We value the patriotism and support of our community, but in light of our current fiscal challenges, commanders at all levels must make sound decisions to use resources wisely."

The show was slated for June.

The air show in Beaufort has also taken a hit as the sequestration will likely result in the Blue Angels not being able to perform.
