After the relaunched Chai's spot called it quits in early 2012 a new spot is due to open: Republic Reign.
It's aiming to be a high-end lounge with "an array of food and beverage options" and offering a separate VIP-like "room" and lounge and garden area.
Fish bartender and mixologist Evan Powell is also headed there as the new general manager.
Look for them to open late August or in September.

Update one December 16: Opening "soon" is always such a gambit with restaurants, but now the folks behind Republic Reign appear to be pushing hard to open in time for New Year's Eve.

Stephanie Barna writes from the Charleston City Paper to lament on the delay, saying in part, "So, it looks like maybe later this month, or maybe Spring 2013? Let's hope for their pocketbook's sake that it's sooner rather than later."
