Looking to check out some live music off of the beaten path? During the month of April, Eye Level Art will be hosting four musical performances at their 103 Gallery on Spring Street.
Here's a rundown of who all will be performing throughout the month:
April 16: The Unofficial Creekside Band is influenced by talents like Marvin Gaye, The Police, Pure Prairie League, The Temptations, and The Rolling Stones to name a few. Made up of four local musicians: Steve Luisi, owner of King Street Kitchens, on the lead guitar; Jay White with his acoustic electric, drums, and trombone; Johnny Weeks on the drums and Barry Lester playing bass, lead guitar, and mandolin. The band performs both original material and covers of favorite classics. Doors open at 7:00PM, band starts at 7:45. Tickets are $10 at the door, $5 for students with valid student ID.
April 17: The Shaniqua Brown is a newly established local band and is known for a rip-roaring, foot-thumping, house-shaking good time. Their energetic sounds are influenced mainly by indie-rock/ post-funk and are known for their live performances. This dynamic quartet is comprised of vocalist Rachel Gillon and strong instrumental backing with Thomas Concannon (guitar), Denis Blyth (bass), and David Bair (drums). Group members describe their shows as, “straightforward fun.” Doors are at 8:00PM. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door and $5 student pre-sale tickets.
April 24: Toro Y Moi is the brainchild of South Carolinan Chaz Bundick, a 23-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist whiz-kid and graphic design graduate. Toro Y Moi blurs the boundary between electronica and Americana, spending his time focused on eclectic remixes for artists, such as Washed Out and Beach House. His music is described as drifty and disorientating and is often compared to Animal Collective and the Flaming Lips. Doors are at 8:00PM. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door with limited $5 student pre-sale tickets.
April 25: The Greensboro-based sextet Holy Ghost Tent Revival will be making a special appearance in Charleston playing their first all-ages show exclusively at Eye Level Art. "Using a banjo, acoustic guitar, electric bass, keyboard, trombone and drums, the six men comprising Holy Ghost Tent Revival [have] whipped up a fervor that seems hardly containable" --Miles Johnson, SCAD District. Accompanying them will be the local gypsy Americana duo-turned-4-piece Megan Jean & The KFB featuring Lily Slay and Mackie Boles of Charleston's own Royal Tinfoil. Doors are at 7:30PM. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door and $5 student pre-sale tickets.
All show will take place at Eye Level Art's 103 Gallery located at 103 Spring Street.
