Two Horry County Schools make U.S. News 'Best High Schools' list

US News & World Report released their annual "Best High Schools" list and out of a reviewed 21,776 U.S. public high schools; 44 South Carolina schools made their rankings and two of those schools are right here in Horry County.

Aynor High School and Myrtle Beach's Socastee High School (go Braves) are the two local schools that made the list. Aynor High School is ranked 8th within the state of South Carolina and Socastee is ranked 16th.

In the 2012 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, there are 2 South Carolina schools with gold medals, 14 with silver medals, and 28 with bronze medals

Nationally, Aynor is ranked #1,095 with a college readiness of 29.8 and Socastee #1,706 with a college readiness of 20.1, both schools are awarded a silver medal in the U.S. News ranking criteria. Hop on over to U.S. News & World Report to see the full list of South Carolina School here and the whole National list here.

What's the best school in the state? 

The Academic Magnet High School of North Charleston. They are ranked number 27 in the country and hit 99.5 on U.S. News' College readiness index. All courses offered at Academic Magnet High School are either honors or Advanced Placement courses

What's the best school in the nation?

According to U.S. News it is the School for the Talented and Gifted out of Dallas, Texas and they scored a 100% in College readiness and a minimum of 11 Advanced Placement courses are required for graduation.
