S.C. DHEC Earth Day Awards Tuesday (Update: Groovy Green Glass wins)

Groovy Green Glass' Deana and Shawn were some of the earliest supporters of what we do at TheDigitelMYR. They made this glass for us for the 2011 CREATE South.

Updte April 17th: Shawn and Deana Vail, founders of Groovy Green Glass, a local business that specializes in remaking wine and liquor bottles into glassware and more, is one of this year's South Carolina DHEC 2012 Earth Day Award winners!

Groovy Green Glass won for Recycling and Repurposing Initiatives. Green Glass is responsible for saving over 16,000 bottles last yer which would have otherwise found their way in a landfill for the next 1 to 2 million years. Deana Vail shared with us that, "Every bottle that was collected was either turned into product or recycled with Horry County Solid Waste. "

We've talked about how awesome Groovy Green Glass is in the past (here and here), but we just wanted to say congratulations to the Vail's who are great people who are very deserving of this honor.

You can get some of Groovy Green Glass' merchandise at the following local retailers:

  • Yoga In Common (Market Common)
  • The Mole Hole (Broadway At The Beach)
  • The Mole Hole (Barefoot Landing)
  • Beach Discount Beverages (Kings Highway)

Also you can order online here and make sure to like them on Facebook for the most up to date info and products.
