The Chapin Memorial Library and Franklin G. Burrough Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, both in Myrtle Beach, are teaming up to bring a series of four art classes to children of the Grand Strand, free of charge.

The classes will be held on Fridays in July and will focus on Japanese art and culture.  Risting first through third graders will attend class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  They will do projects in koinobori, calligraphy, haiku poems, and kitsune masks.  Rising second through fourth graders will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and do projects in origami, katagami techniques, and sushi making. 

The first class for each group will be at the art museum and the rest will be at the library.  The class size is limited, so registration is required.  Students are asked to plan to attend all four sessions.
