BUTTERFLY CONSIGNMENTS TO HOST NANCE SNEDDON ART SHOWCASE THURSDAY, FEB. 16

Nance Sneddon's "Still Life and Open Meadow"

Event will feature local contemporary artist’s new work

Amanda Rosen, Owner of Butterfly Consignment Boutiques in downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant, S.C. and Victoria’s Curvacious Consignments in Mount Pleasant, S.C., will host an art showcase for local artist Nance Sneddon on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Butterfly’s downtown location, 582 King Street. Guests will be the first to view some of Sneddon’s new work as well as other recent pieces by the artist, who specializes in contemporary painted tapestries that highlight Lowcountry nature. Appetizers and refreshments will also be served.

Sneddon moved to Charleston in 1996 from Hilton Head, S.C., where she owned and operated Moonshell Gallery and developed a line of women’s fine art accessories. Her Lowcountry-inspired art is painted on large, loosely woven canvases with tropical scenes, vibrant colors and archetypal symbols. She describes her work as "stylized imagery of nature, full of texture, pattern and light.”

“We are so excited to have Nance showcase her artwork at Butterfly,” said Rosen. “The colors and design in her art are fabulous, vibrant and make the room come alive. Her work will certainly add to our customers’ shopping experience.”
