Developers donate land for elementary school in Foxbank Plantation, with fire station to be constructed on adjacent site

Earlier this month, Foxbank Ventures, the developers responsible for Foxbank Plantation in Moncks Corner, finalized the land transfer for two upcoming projects for the master-planned community. Two parcels of land will serve as the site for the Foxbank Elementary School and the Foxbank Plantation fire station.

Foxbank Ventures, which is a partnership between Chesapeake Capital Partners and The Randolph Group, donated 11 acres to the Berkeley County School District for the construction of the Foxbank Elementary School. The value of the donated property is estimated at $1.75 million.

“We are excited that this process has finally come to fruition and we’re finally moving forward,” said Gene Sides, interim director of facilities for Berkeley County School District. “The attendance lines have not been established yet, but we anticipate that the school will be open for the 2018-2019 school year.”

Construction for the elementary school will begin this year and is currently scheduled to be completed by 2018. The school site is centrally located within the Foxbank Plantation community, located at the corner of Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner.

“This elementary school has been a key part of Foxbank’s master plan since the community’s inception,” explained Jeff Randolph, president of The Randolph Group. “We are excited that the logistics for the land donation are complete and we can get started on building a school that will help educate and inspire children for generations to come.”

Additionally, another acre of land was transferred to the Town of Moncks Corner for the Foxbank Plantation fire station. The station will be adjacent to the Foxbank Elementary School. A construction timeline for the fire station has not been announced yet.

"The acquisition of the property for the fire station allows us to complete its design and then move into constuction. Once complete, the fire station in Foxbank will serve as the cornerstone for public safety services not only in Foxbank but much of the surrounding area as well," said Moncks Corner Mayor Michael Lockliear.

“The Town of Moncks Corner originally approached us about providing a site for a fire station that would serve both Foxbank Plantation and the surrounding growth areas of Moncks Corner,” said Matt Brunner, president of Chesapeake Capital. “I am excited that we were able to incorporate this site in our master plan and we see it as an added amenity to our community residents.”

Chesapeake Capital Partners and The Randolph Group will retain architectural control of both facilities to maintain the overall character of the community.
