Medicare phone scam targets elderly South Carolinians

The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs is warning Medicare recipients to beware of cold calls asking for their Medicare number or bank information.

Medicare uses Social Security numbers as identification. Sharing that with an untrusted source, obviously puts the recipient's identity at risk.
