Charleston looks to up bike registration fee, frequency (update: passes)

Image by Flickr user spello The ones in Charleston are less metal and more sticker.

Update July 21: Though the bike locking measure failed, this one did pass the reading.

One more vote would be needed before the change takes effect, and the new fee still needs to be set.

Update July 20: The ordinance would also ban parking on trees, poles, and so on.

First reporting: First of all, yes you are supposed to register your bike with the City of Charleston, secondly it looks like fee may go well up from a dollar and you may be stopping by to do it every three years.

See what's up over at the Charleston City Paper.
