In a surprising twist, Greenwood man released from prison after 30 years

After sitting on death row for three decades, Edward Lee Elmore was released on Friday from prison.

Elmore was convicted of a 1982 murder where a woman was stabbed more than 50 times in Greenwood -- but more recent reviews raise questions that police may have been in a rush to charge someone for murderer.

Greenville Online has an excellent report (read it here) as does The New York Times (read it here).

He was released after pleading to an agreement where he admitted no guilt but acknowledged evidence stacked against him.
