Man in YouTube video of Folly Beach arrest granted a continuance

Tourgusen being arrested on Folly Beach

A controversial YouTube video shot on Folly Beach has been making the rounds on the interwebs.

The video, posted on April 16th, shows the arrest of Erik Torgusen on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. In the video, Tourgusen is being subdued and handcuffed, then subsequently pepper sprayed for resisting the arrest. What you don't see in the video is Torgusen's friend, Brett Ricker, getting tased after placing his hands on one of the arresting officers.

Important to note is that the video was shot on Folly Beach - the only local beach where drinking is still permitted. The officers were called in on reports of men urinating in sinks and being unruly at the Tides Hotel. YouTube commenters who were also at the hotel that day back up those claims and state that Torgusen was "peeing all over the walls and in the sinks" of the hotel bathroom.

The Post and Courier reports that since the incident, Torgusen has apologized to the Folly Beach community and was granted a continuance at his April 20th hearing.
