Unfiltered: Local media swarms to welcome center fire

Photo by Horry County Fire Rescue

Around 10 a.m. on Friday morning, the Festiva Welcome Center just near the Waccamaw River bridge in Conway started to burn. It caused 501 to be shut down for a period of time while the fire was contained.

As a part of our constant monitoring of local social media and news reports, it was pretty interesting to see all the media coverage of the event. Normally we filter overlapping coverage and send you to what we feel is the best content (that's what we do!). But I thought it might be interesting to see what we process just for a single event.

WPDE: "Festiva Welcome Center catches fire in Horry County" (Write-up and video.)

The Sun News: "Two-alarm fire at Myrtle Beach area welcome center on U.S. 501, road reopened" There's also a photo slideshow.

WBTW: "Crews respond to fire at Conway welcome center" (Write-up and video.)

Oh yeah... social media!
There was also all the tweets and Facebook chatter from these news outlets. We won't post all those. But in case you didn't know, Horry County Fire Rescue is on Twitter and Facebook:
