Transforming Charleston – one wall at a time – with functional and creative wall decals

Wallfly Design, a new start-up company, is on a simple mission – to transform boring walls with functional and creative wall decals and accessories.

Conceived as a business idea in the fall of 2009 and launched in the spring of 2010, Wallfly Design is the brainchild of the daughter-father team of Dalit and Joel Goobich.

After graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in Graphic Design and a passion for creative packaging, Dalit honed her skills at Royal Labs Inc. on John’s Island and then as a brand team designer for Philips/DLO. Last year, she knew that it was time to make the leap into entrepreneurship and “do her own thing”. Joining forces with her father, a veteran entrepreneur, as her mentor and business partner, Wallfly Design was established.

“Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs and seeing the possibilities for personal fulfillment beyond the daily grind of working for a big corporation, I always knew that this was a path that I wanted to pursue” says Dalit. “I have always loved packaging and product design and am really excited about merging that passion to develop and market functional designs that people can actually use”.

The company is in the process of refining and establishing their unique brand of wall decal designs. One of the initial marketing campaigns includes a direct marketing/social networking campaign targeted at the college market with products that help students stay organized and at the same time decorate their dormrooms. The company will be hiring student ambassadors on college campuses to get the message out through “dormroom and fraternity/sorority makeover parties” and other on-campus activities.

One of the Wallfly Design’s first products is a Dormroom Message Board Kit that includes both Dry-Erase and Chalkboard products that can be removed and repositioned without causing damage to the walls. (We can all remember the apprehension of having to pay damages to the university at the end of the school year for making holes in the walls). This and other functional wall decals are sold on the company’s website www.wallflydesign.com .

Wallfly Designs’ activities also include custom design and installation of wall, window, and floor decals and graphics for retail, business and office environments. Already, in just a short time frame, Wallfly Design has become sought after for their expertise in transforming boring walls and windows.
