The Middleton Group, a local architecture firm established in 2007, has moved to a new office on King Street in the Upper King Design District.

Located at 557 King, the firm worked on the rehabilitation of the three adjoining buildings at 557, 557 1/2 and 559 King, all owned by Three Kings, LLC.  The firm also designed the tenant upfits for Charleston Power Yoga at 557 King, and Midtown Bar and Grill at 559 King.

The two principals, Blake and Laura Middleton, have extensive experience in commercial design including restaurants, retail, and higher education.  They formed The Middleton Group three years ago to continue their commercial work, and also to branch out into high end residential design.

The firm focuses on sustainable, environmentally-conscious design. Sustainable architecture seeks to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by enhancing efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and land development. Sustainable design is about being responsible with the earth’s resources.

Sustainable design is not just about the impact on the environment, but also the impact on the occupants of the buildings. The firm strives to design buildings that are comfortable, healthy, and as efficient as possible.

The Middleton Group is proud to be a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and a Partner of the Energy Star Program.
