The Christoph Paccard Bellfoundries on Johns Island has seen a 700 percent growth in just a year and a half, prompting the custom bell makers to move to a grander space.

The French bronze custom bell-makers sell the majority of their bells to colleges and churches. Some local customers include St. Philip's Church, The Citadel and St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville.

The Post and Courier has an interesting story on the bell business and its immunity against the economic downturn.
