As a Comcast subscriber, are you tired of paying for dozens of channels that you rarely watch? Lowcountry customers who feel taken by their cable packages, listen up: Comcast has announced that viewers can buy MyTV Choice, a service that let's you pay only for what you watch.

According to the article in today's Post and Courier, Charleston is the second of three trial regions for this new "a la carte" service.

Here's how MyTv Choice works:

First, pick a platform, which cost $24.95 and $44.95, respectively. Pay a little more, get a little more like ESPN and other popular premium cable channels. Next, choose from four theme packages, each of which costs an additional $10: 19-channel News & Info, 31-channel Entertainment & Lifestyle, 16-channel Movies and 11-channel Kids. If you want high definition themed packages, you'll have to cough up a little extra dough.

With digital cable starter packages hovering around $60 per subscription these days, this new a la carte cable consumption could be a solid switch.
