Update March 25:

I'd noticed that the windows at Craves' spot on 616 Meeting Street were looking dark, and it was for good reason.

The Charleston City Paper reports that Craves is moving their soul food business down Meeting closer to the Visitor Center. The new location is still under construction, but until then, Craves is currently using the Our Glass Café's kitchen to provide a delivery service every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Pop over to the Charleston City Paper for the story.

First reporting:

The Charleston City Paper has an ode to authentic soul food, giving a huge nod to downtown's newest addition to the genre, Craves Soul Food.

Charleston is notorious for the quick comings and goings of eateries and shops, but the Upper Meeting Street restaurant is hopefully here to stay. The locally owned and operated cafe puts the focus on food and not on attracting tourists like many downtown soul food places.
