Heather Koonse, local designer, pattern drafter, seamstress and owner and creator of The Rose Knot has a dream. Her dream: to turn The Rose Knot into a design resource center for local fashion designers to develop, create and produce well-made clothing.

The Rose Knot has become a hub of creativity so much so that Koonse has found herself spending a lot of time helping local clothing designers develop and produce their own collections. Instead of splitting her time, Koonse hopes to turn The Rose Knot into a brand new resource center called the Charleston Garment Manufactory.

The ultimate goal is to work closely with the already existing foundation of local designers to expand Charleston as a center of creativity, fashion and style, while strengthening community through education.

To help reach her goal, Koonse has set up an IndeGoGo page, which is strikingly similar to Kickstarter. Anyone who believes in the dream is welcomed and encouraged to back the Charleston Garment Manufactory project with a monetary donation.
