Charleston School Board votes 'no' to full Montessori school at Hursey

The Charleston County School District Board voted 4-4 on changing Malcolm C. Hursey Elementary School to a full Montessori school.
Curently running a dual-program, Hursey Elementary will continue to offer both traditional and Montessori classes as a tie-vote led to no drastic change in the school's curriculum.
The district had plans to phase out traditional classes at Hursey, but the movement faltered because of a budget shortfall during the 2010-2011 school year.
