West Ashley eighth-grader to compete in national spelling bee

West Ashley native Katy LeBarron, a student at the Charleston County School of the Arts, won the SpellBound! competition on Monday.

LeBarron will be one of 275 kids competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington on June 1st and 2nd.

ESPN will air the final day of the spelling bee competition, beginning with the semifinals from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and concluding with the finals from 8:30 until 10 p.m.
