Charleston Scene had the chance to chat with Charleston's biggest music star to date, Darius Rucker, about his new album due out October 12th, playing for crowds in his hometown and his transition from the pop to country music scene.

Despite his recent success in the country music world, Rucker and the boys from Hootie and the Blowfish will be playing at the 8th annual Homegrown Concert at the Family Circle Cup Stadium on August 11th. Tickets to the 7 p.m. show are on sale now for $25-$30. The event will raise money for the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation, a private nonprofit organization that funds music programs at S.C. schools.

Charleston Scene's piece comes just day after Rucker was spotted shooting a music video in downtown Charleston for a new single.
