So first off, I just have to gush at how excited we are to have teamed up with Charleston Magazine's Charleston Fashion Week!

Read more stories on this subject in our Charleston Fashion Week topic page.

Our street-team aims to bring live reporting, blogging, twittering, and behind the scene coverage under the tents of Marion Square. We are armed with video cameras, cameras, and fancy iPhones. If you see me, Charlotte, Brian, or even Geoff, stop us and say hi! We'd love to snap some pictures with you and tweet together! Live Facebook reporting? Yep, we do that, too! Oh, snap!

I am cautiously stoked about my wardrobe for Charleston Fashion Week 2009. Last year the fashionista turned recessionista. Me, too. Then in December William Safire, of New York Times Magazine's On Language column, pointed us towards the frugalista movement. He nominated the term to be his favorite word of the year.

So here is my secret. My little seeds for my vegetable garden are going well, as I drop my grocery $$ for the month at Target. Smack me now for not supporting local boutiques and designers. Go ahead.

But did you know that freelancers are paid pennies? Yep, I tried eating my pennies to see if that would work better, and then I tried planting them to grow more, and then I gave up and decided the closest I was getting to designer this year was through Alexander McQueen). His fashionable highness designed a McQ line for Target. I will be wearing clothes from his collection every night of CFW.

I will be welcoming comments on my very pink and black outfits and sharing them through Twitter. For shoes, I am going for style and comfort with my Nike Dunk Hi Supreme Spark hightop from Suite Sole. I mean I might throw in some high heels so I tower over all of you, but these (men's) shoes are so pink and perfect and comfy, you'll be jealous when you see me! Then there is always the issue of a bag. I definitely need something to stash my goodies in, and my arsenal of technology. Harper Poe, of Proud Mary, has offered to let me carry her bags around the tents and show them off. Perfect, right?

Tuesday night is the Emerging Designer Competition semi-finalist runway show. After visiting with Swapnali Ahire today at the aloft hotel, I can promise you that tomorrow is going to be an amazing night for all the designers under the tents!
