BarCamp Charleston aims to be an informal, user generated, and social conference, where all the attendees participate somehow. Think Facebook and Twitter, but in person.

"BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event." -- BarCamp.org

The main theme is to encourage the sharing of knowledge with others as well as collaboration amongst people who share the same interests. Anyone who has an interest or wants to present something is welcome to attend. Best of all, the conference is and always will be FREE!

Historically, BarCamps typically lean towards the techie with topics ranging from web development and design to social media and programming, but those topics are not requirements. If you have an interesting topic you want to share with the world, then BarCamp Charleston is for you!

We are just getting off of the ground for this landmark and inaugural event, but we plan to have it in late October or early November...so the details are forthcoming.
