The latest show at the Halsey, "Hair on Fire," has been garnering some good remarks.

While the show has many newer pieces, the work is complimented by authentic pieces of hair art from the Charleston Museum's archives -- some of which date back to the 1700s.

The Halsey explains about the show: "This group exhibition, curated by Mark Sloan, explores the rich and diverse history of human hair—from its importance in mythology, cultural anthropology, fashion, and folklore, to its metaphorical possibilities. Each artist creates works that are either made of hair, or relate to the subject."

The Halsey has many images of the show over on Flickr.

The exhibit is free and open through June 15, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is at 54 St. Philip Street in downtown Charleston. (843) 953-5680.
