Update May 15: following the opening, the H2O-ly City photography exhibition is free for everyone from May 18-June 19 from 9 am- 5 p.m.

First reporting: The Charleston Civic Design Center is organizing this H20-ly (Holy) City Photography Competition to raise awareness of water's impact on Charleston's environment.

Each photo for consideration must: be taken in Charleston, be a product of solely the artist's property, not previously published, and be reflective of how water affects Charleston's environment. The competition is open to everyone and will offer cash prizes. The entries will be evaluated in two groups: youth (15 and under) and adults.

Registration for adults is $10, $1 for youth. The deadline for submission is Friday, May 8, and you can find out more about registration at their Web site.

All contestant photos will be displayed at the Civic Design Center in their May exhibition. The winners will be announced at the debut of the May exhibition on Friday, May 15, from 6-8 p.m.
