It's every Charleston fashionista's favorite time of the year in the Lowcountry. Between Charleston Fashion Week, and the myriad of other fashionable happenings occuring around town, there are a ton of opportunities to gawk at, drool over, and even snag a few of Charleston's best offerings in fashion.

First off, let me direct you to our favorite resources that are always on top of the scene. I'd highly suggest you'd click over to their calendars and to get the full scoop on all the best events in town this month.

-Charlie Magazine has a fantastic monthly events calendar highlighting the best in fashion and beyond in Charleston every month.

-I Like What You're Wearing is truly an insider's perspective of the who's who and what they are wearing in the Charleston scene.  They have great weekly updates of fashionable events, the inside scoop on sample sales, and provide witty and informative commentary and coverage of the best outfits dazzling amongst the cobblestones.

Here at TheDigitel we're getting in on the action ourselves.

We're thrilled to be providing some great behind-the-scenes coverage of one of Charleston's hottest hometown favorites, Julie Wheat of Cavortress.  Wheat will be showcasing her designs at the South by Southwest Festival's inaugural Style X in Austin, TX, and then dashing back to participate as a semi-finalist in the Emerging Designer Competition at Charleston Fashion Week.  Wheat has graciously invited us along for the ride, and throughout the month we'll be providing videos, photos, and posts from Julie herself documenting exactly what it takes to make it as a Charleston fashion designer, in our own city and beyond.  Be sure to bookmark our Cavortress topic page to follow along.

We'll also be providing in-depth coverage of Charleston Magazine's Charleston Fashion Week.  We'll have recaps, photos, and live tweets of what's going on under the tents, in the Style Lounge, the after parties, and other events surrounding CFW.  We'll also have perspectives from Art Institute students, and emerging designer participants.  We'll be highlighting these on our CFW landing page, and please pardon our ust as we make a few final tweaks to prepare for this year.

There are also several in-store events, shows, and more happenings around town we'll be hitting up all month, so be sure to stay tuned for more updates and coverage.  Be sure to bookmark our events calendar to help stay on top of the best of Charleston all month long.

Here's a look at what's going on this week in Charleston Fashion:

-Thursday, March 3rd: Sweet and Style at Billy Reid, 150 King St, 6 - 9 p.m.  Billy Reid and the Macaroon Boutique are kicking off the Charleston Wine + Food Fest in style, offering delectable treats and 20% off all Billy Reid spring apparel. Free and open to the public.

-Saturday, March 5th: A Fashion Show, City Gallery, 34 Prioleau St, 6 p.m.  Some of Charleston's most promising emerging designers are showcasing their talents and looking to play with the traditional 'fashion show' concept in all aspects.  This event is aiming to push the envelope of what fashion is, and how fashion as an art can affect notions of personal identity and image, all while paying homeage to textures, lines, and the foundation of design simultaneously.  Featuring the designs of Erin Perkins, Heather Koonse, Margaret Chandler, Kim Hines, Shelly Smith, and 2011 Charleston Fashion Week Emerging Designer semifinalst Michael Wiernicki, a $10 admission fee is small bones for a few hours of a sneak peek at what we can look forward to in fashion from Charleston.

So polish up those heels and get moving!  Be sure to send us your pictures, comments, and other happenings on our Facebook page and tweet us at @TheDigitel too.
