The Coastal Youth Ballet is in practice for their annual performance of the holiday class, the Nutcracker.  The role of "Mother Ginger" remains open and the company is looking for a community hero to take on the part.

Nominations are being accepted through November 2, 2012.  The list of candidates will be announced on Monday, November 5th and voting will remain open until November 30th.  The winner will be announced that next day and the performance is on Saturday, December 9, 2012.

From the Coastal Youth Ballet site:

The role is a non-speaking/non-dancing part involving a colorful head dress, elaborate make-up and an appearance on stage for a 3 minute "performance." The role will have "Mother Ginger" sitting high atop the 8-foot dress in an outrageously oversized costume, from which brightly-colored "Bon-Bon" children emerge and dance playfully during the second act. No dancing, acting, or speaking skills required for the Mother Ginger role.
