The Charleston Acting Academy, a partnership between Footlight Players and Pure Theatre, is proud to present summer acting classes for students of the Tri-County area.

All classes will be held downtown at the Footlight Players Theatre, located at 20 Queen Street, and class instruction will be provided by Pure Theatre Co-Founder Sharon Graci. The Charleston Acting Academy is unique to Charleston and provides high quality acting education. It provides intensive theatre training to children who really want to pursue an acting or film career.

Listed below are descriptions of the upcoming classes:

The Charleston Acting Academy Summer Camps: June 20-24, 2011, 9 a.m.-12pm ages 6-9; 1-5 p.m. ages 10-16

Cost is $175 per student

Instructors lead students through the process of creating the mind of a character. Group exercises, stage work, scene study, and original writing make this an experience that maturing students will draw upon for years to come. Class is filled with fun, challenging material, provocative thinking, and new techniques that can be applied to acting and life in general.

Film Class: June 27-July 1 from 1-5 p.m.

Cost is $200 per student

Students will write, direct, and act in their own film. They will learn how to act on film as well as what goes into producing a short film. This is a very unique class and is run by local film producer Nick Smith. Students will receive their final product after the showing for the families on the last day. A memento they can enjoy for the rest of their lives, a reminder of their first film.
