The Charleston Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary concert was a smashing success, almost filling the Gailliard Auditorium and bringing in $115,000 in contributions, ticket sales and sponsorships.

The Friday night production was organized to refresh the community's support of the local symphony orchestra which is currently on hiatus due to a lack of sufficient funding.

The concert revenue will remain with the 75th Anniversary Committee, for which the city of Charleston is the fiscal agent. According to the Charleston Regional Business Journal, the money was designated by donors for symphony concerts, and it must be used for that purpose and will hopefully be used to support the Charleston Symphony Orchestra if that organization gets back on its feet this year.
