AAST Doodle's 4 Google

CASEY KEISLER
Steampunk'ed

Casey Keisler of the Academy For The Arts, Science And Technology  has made it as one of two state finalist in grades 10-12 for the prestigious Doodle 4 Google competition. As a state finalist Casey Keisler, beat out more than 107,000 entries from across the country.

Doodle 4 Google is a competition where Google invites K-12 students to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign Google’s homepage logo for millions to see. Casey Keisler has focused his creative imagination around the theme "What I’d like to do someday…," in the form a steampunk version of the Google logo. Google's Doogle graces the search engines home page as quirky takes on their brand that (when clicked) whisk the viewer to a new tidbit of knowledge.

The national winner will be awarded a $15,000 college scholarship while the winner's school will receive a $25,000 technology grant towards the establishment or improvement of a computer lab or technology programming. There are some really great prizes for the runners up as well.

The winning doodle will be announced on May 19, 2011 and featured on our Google.com homepage on May 20, 2011.

Editor's Note: It seems to me with all the great talent in Horry County competing for serious prize money for education that the county might should invest in a really good PR person to help broadcast the news and get more local residents to vote in the competitions. We apologize about not passing along this information sooner. We just heard ourselves.
