Unveiling

And while the 2009 Piccolo Poster has been out for sometime, we've put it below, too.

If you're not familiar with the two festivals, they run from May 22 to June 7 and cover all forms of performing art from standup comedy to opera to classical music.

You can learn more about the festival in our Spoleto special section.

Spoleto poster

The design is by American figurative artist Alex Katz; from Wikipedia: "Alex Katz (born July 24, 1927) is an American figural artist associated with the Pop art movement. In particular, he is known for his paintings, sculptures, and prints."

"It's edgy, but fun, and obviously we like it a lot" said Paula, "And although we don't know who the person in the picture is -- it's just an unknown profile, I've heard someone already say this morning that the hair reminds them of Max Headroom".

Sandwich BoardPlenty of scope for us to have some artful fun with the poster then -- especially as the Red, White & Black match the three exact colors that we here use at TheDigitel! Heck, we've already drawn it onto our sandwich board that we place on the sidewalk outside our office each day.

A poster can be bought for $25 online, at the Gaillard box office or by calling (843) 579-3100. They'll also be available at the Taste Of Spoleto event, taking place at the Gaillard at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd.  Cheap advance tickets and various paraphenalia will be on sale.
