Vintage aluminum and a love for farm fresh food: The Farmbar (Updated)

Update February 12: Look for them to start closer to June.

Combining the retro charm of a Spartan trailer along with a love of local foods, a small Awendaw group is hoping to start The Farmbar on upper Meeting Street.

What they hope to offer is, as they put it: "A simple 10 item menu with most of the food grown + raised on our own 4 acre farm in Awendaw, SC named DEUXPUCES/TWO FLEAS.  Pigs to be raised by Emile DeFelice at Caw Caw Creek in Columbia, SC and Russ + Christel Green at Greendale Farm in Madison, GA."

The aim is to strip down the trailer from top to bottom and permanently relocate it on the property at 1600 Meeting Street.

As for making it happen, they're looking for community funding via Kickstarter.

They're looking to get $26,000 to get started — and the deadline is just 3 days away, with the deadline coming on Sunday, September 9, at 11:26 a.m. The good news is they're nearly there at $21,300 as of this writing.

You can chip in here.

If they do suceed, they'll look to raise some $150,000 more to finish executing the concept.

Learn more about them on Kickstarter or their website.

We'll be sure to update you.
