A new school year is in session which means that SideWalk Chalk, a Charleston-based program that brings passionate volunteers in to school to help children find their voices and meet national ELA standards, is back in action.

They're currently looking for volunteers to work with Mitchell Elementary's 4th grade students at 11 a.m. every Wednesday and 5th grade at 11am every Thursday. Programming will begin with 4th grade on Wednesday, September 26th, and with 5th grade on Thursday, September 27th.

Two volunteer orientations/meet and greets are taking place this Wednesday the 19th. One at 11 a.m. and another one at 5:30 p.m., both at Kudu coffee. Meet fellow volunteers while hearing about what your experience will entail. However, if you can't come, no worries at all.

If you plan on attending, please contact Laine Hester - Sidewalk Chalk's program director - and let her know you'll there. The number to reach her is (404) 435-1592.
