Write Your Way Around the World

Imagine manifesting trips to exotic destinations...on someone else's nickel! Or traveling on your own and earning back your expenses, just by writing a story about your experience? Travel writers do both all the time, and in Travel Right...Travel Write, a six-week class series at Technical College of the Lowcountry, Beaufort campus, you can discover how. Through in-class and take-home exercises, you will learn the nuts and bolts of travel writing, including researching, interviewing, querying, finding markets and identifying trip sources. By the end of the series, you'll have a travel story in hand that publications will snap right up.

Instructor Katherine Tandy Brown has been a successful freelance travel writer for 22 years. Some of her favorite assignments include hopping a barge for 10 days in Burgandy, ogling Lake Louise and its glacier on horseback, cooling off in the Alhambra on a 106-degree day in Andalusia, ziplining on Hawaii's Big Island and exploring Victoria Island in a floatplane.

Classes are on Mondays, October 22 - November 26, 6 - 8 p.m. Cost is $110. Register at www.tcl.edu/continuing-ed/life or (843) 525-8205.
