Port Royal Marine arrested on charges of sexual conduct with minor (update: Accused is discharged )

Updated March 3: The Marine accused and charged with sexual conduct with a minor has been discharged, according to several reports.

Update February 4: The Island Packet has followed up in regards to Sands status in the Corps and notes that no formal action has yet been taken.

It's worth noting that the Marine is still at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Update January 28: In a followup The Island Packet has a few more details, namely some about a series of text messages between the accused Sands and the child's mother leading up to the arrest.

First reporting, January 27: 26-year-old Marine Corps Corporal Brandon Sands has been arrested by Port Royal Police on charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor with his girlfriends three-year-old daughter. 

The current reports are sparse, but I'll point you to WSAV for more info.

If convicted of the charge it caries a sentence of 25 years.
