Update December 24: In a general follow The Island Packet notes that no one has luck finding the pit bull.

First reporting December 23: The Island Packet has reported that a Bluffton woman was bitten by a pit bull several times while trying to protect her family and her own dog from the animal.

The woman was taken to Coastal Carolina Hospital and the Packet didn't have her current condition.
