Board of Education meets tuesday, rejects "step" salary proposal

The Beaufort County Board of Education voted down a proposal during its meeting March 15 that would have seen the implementation of a "step" salary schedule for non-teaching school employees.
The board reportedly rejected the plan because "step" salaries (salaries that increase annually) are mostly intended to award those per additional year of experience, or per higher education degree earned, not for those who do not requite a teaching certificate to work.
