The (Lady's) Island News reports this week that Beaufort Academy graduate Ashten Byrne is headed to The Citadel.

This is still no small feat as last year marked only the 10-year anniversary of Nancy Mace becoming the first woman to enter The Citadel. Check out the 2009 Atlanta Journal Constitution story that caught up with Mace 10 years later. 

Byrne told The Island News that she's looking forward to the discipline and military tradition that comes with entering The Citadel. Check out the full read here.
