What do red-light cameras in Los Angeles have to do with Ridgeland?

The Los Angeles City Counci last week decided to shut down its red-light traffic camera system when it was determined the program was losing $1.5 million a year.

You see the L.A. courts weren't forcing people who had the video ticket sent to their homes to pay the fines because authorities really can't prove who was behind the wheel when the photo was taken.

You can read an Associated Press piece on the whole L.A. issue here.

The whole issue got us thinking about Ridgeland and its traffic cams, and whether something really can be enforced via camera and not in person.

So give the L.A. story a read just as food for thought.
