Rotten choice but best of the bunch?

As emotions continue to run high over the proposed closing of Shell Point Elementary, The Island Packet has created a solid report about how the school district arrived at the conclusion.

Judging by that report the vibe seems to be that Shell Point was the most practical target in a set of very bad options as the school district looks to mend a bleeding budget.

Read the paper's report here and read the district's full school closure analysis here.

Amazing that just a few years ago we were racing to add capacity.

Oh, and here's a poor choice of words to note: Speaking about the school closure assessment process, School Superintendent Valerie Truesdale said, "This is not an academic conversation."
