Probe into Joe Wilson's use of federal travel money moving forward (update: cleared)

Update January 3, in the clear: An investigation into all six House members under investigation for possible per diem abuse has ended.

The Wall Street Journal has a brief report of the bi-partisan commission's decision; read it here

First reporting November 17, 2010: Remember the news about South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson being under an ethics investigation that broke back in early September?

Well it looks like you can't chalk it entirely up to being some sort of election muddying issue as the investigation is moving forward into Wilson's possible misuse of travel funds. The decision to extend the investigation is being backed by both a Democrat and Republican.

But Wilson seems to be sticking to the line that it's all about the purchase of about $12 worth of souvenir cups, despite the evidence pointing much to the contrary.

McClatchy has an excellent wire report on the matter, and The State appears to have a full copy; take a read here.

Expect more developments in mid-December.
