First reporting: The population growth in the area south of the broad river evidenced by the 2010 census numbers is leaving many Beaufort County residents worried, and looking for explanations as to why their area isn't growing at the same rates.

Not an easy task, but some county politicians feel they have the answer.

Mayor Billy Keyserling, for example, said that while the town of beaufort isn't growing, it's not sprawling either, and that once the economy picks up again, so will the population.
