Bi-partisan congressional resistance quickly jelled after the Obama administration announced that it was seeking another round of Base Closure and Realignment (aka BRAC) -- but with the milatry's estimated annual local impact of $1.2 billion, it's more than understandable that local alarms flared.

The Island Packet followed up and reports that, as you might expect, local groups are once again standing ready to defend the local military presence.

How's that $1.2 billion split out? $615 million can attributed to the Marine Corps Air Station, $537 million is due to Parris Island, and $81.4 million to the Naval Hospital.
