Riverview Charter eyeing Shell Point Elementary space

With 67,770 square feet of space and not-too-long-ago renovation, the soon-to-be closed Shell Point Elementary is far from an unattractive learning space.

And The Island Packet has a report that points out while the growing Riverview Charter School is bursting at the seems of its Burroughs Avenue location, a move to the Shell Point school would give it three times as much space and plenty of new amenities.

Take a read of the paper's report here.

However, while the school district is required to give Riverview Charter a shot at leasing the space, don't expect them to be excited to give the new school more space, as the district is already spurned over how each student the charter school enrolls costs the district some $8,000.

Riverview Charter would also have to way the costs of moving out of the downtown Beaufort community.
